New York state’s chief judge has announced a new program meant to aid homeowners who face foreclosure. Chief Judge Judith Kaye said she want the courts to be involved earlier in the foreclosure process and give more than the final judgment of a case. Homeowners would be notified as soon as possible that they face foreclosure proceeding and would get a list of counselors who could help them, and they would be invited to court for a settlement conference.
