Hotel occupancy rates in April fell 1.4 percent from last year to 87 percent, this year’s biggest drop, according to city statistics. The weak dollar has attracted record numbers of foreign tourists, but some analysts say tourism will decline because of weakening U.S. and European economies. In the first quarter, about 1 million more tourists came to New York City than last year. The Olafur Eliasson waterfall exhibit and the final seasons at Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium are expected to keep tourism numbers strong this summer.
