Groups demand affordable housing in Coney plans

The affordable housing group NY Acorn and the Pratt Center for
Community Development are demanding that the Bloomberg administration
change Coney Island redevelopment plans
to include more affordable housing. The city’s plan would add
5,000 units of housing, 900 of which would be reserved for low-,
moderate- or middle-income residents. The groups argue, however, that
the planned development could raise rents for the thousands of
affordable housing units already in the area.
