Condo boards investigate buyers

Condo boards and property owners are going to new lengths to check out
prospective buyers and tenants. Boards are searching for profiles on
networking Web sites, like Facebook and MySpace, and some even hire
private investigators to dig up dirt on buyers. With the exception of
credit checks, most background research does not need approval from the
person being investigated. The Real Deal looked at co-op applications in this month’s issue.
