Coty, the world’s largest fragrance company, leased nearly 90,000 square feet of the Empire State Building in what was described as one of the largest lease deals ever for the art deco office tower.

The global company sells a range of beauty products worldwide under brands such as Calvin Klein, Baby Phat, Jennifer Lopez and Adidas.

Coty, which began in 1904 in Paris, will move to the new location in the first quarter of 2009.

The lease deal, which is for the entire 14th floor and parts of the 15th floor, was first reported by the New York Post.

The 1,454-foot-tall Empire State Building, part of the W&H Properties portfolio, is undergoing a $500 million renovation to modernize the 77-year-old structure. Once a haven for small tenants, the tower is creating bigger spaces to land larger tenants.
