Eight stories above 97th Street and Broadway on the Upper West Side, something odd has taken shape. Three small houses being built atop a building there are nearly complete. The owners, real estate developers Anne and Arnold Gumowitz, have not advertised the units, but building concierge Manny Salas says they will be for rent. In addition to gabled roofs, Salas says another thing will set the buildings apart: attics. Meanwhile, neighbors can only speculate. “It looks like it was dropped here from somewhere in Long Island,” architect Doron Rice, who works out at the neighboring 12th story gym, told the Times.
