Broker events get creative

While price cuts have dropped the average price for a luxury home in Manhattan by 17 percent this year, to $6.4 million, some brokers and developers are coming up with more creative ways to sell homes. Brokers have done tours of luxury buildings around the city, and held fashion shows, book signings and children’s fairs in them to attract buyers. A few real estate professionals think the special events are a waste of time because it makes buyers think there’s something wrong with the apartment if you need a gimmick to sell it.
