The Chapel of the Three Sisters, built in 1857
in Jamaica, Queens, reopened last week as the Illinois Jacquet
Performance Space after a year of restoration. The city-owned, landmark
building will be used by CUNY York
College students and
faculty as a multi-purpose performance space, with shows open to the public. The space is dedicated to the famed jazz saxophonist Illinois Jacquet
who lived in southeast Queens.
