People were allowed to move into the Novo condos, at 343 Fourth Street in Park Slope,
disproving a rumor
that the city had barred tenants from moving in until developer Shaya
Boymelgreen completed renovations at J.J. Byrne Park.
In 2005, the Parks Department gave Boymelgreen permission to use the
park’s
southern end as a staging area for construction of the Novo in exchange
for a
$1.6 million renovation of the park’s cement play lot, and many
believed the
renovation had to be completed before tenants could move into the
building. Spokespeople for the Department of Buildings and Parks
Department said there was no arrangement with the developer about
residents moving in after the renovations.
