The boathouse on Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, one of
the only two surviving structures from the 1939 World’s Fair, is about
to get a $6.5 million makeover from the New York City Department of
Parks & Recreation starting next year. Queens Borough President
Helen Marshall and City Council member James Gennaro obtained funding
for the restoration, which is expected to anchor a broader
revitalization of the sprawling park.
