Peter Cooper, Stuy Town residents will pay for electricity

Residents at Peter Cooper Village
and Stuyvesant Town will soon be paying for their own
electricity. Developer Tishman Speyer is in the process of putting in a
metered system to cut costs and reduce overall energy usage. Utilities
are
currently included in the rent. Tishman officials estimate the
energy-savings
plan, which also includes new appliances and an upgraded ventilation
system, will
cost the company $30 million.
