A second staff member of the East Village
not-for-profit affordable housing corporation Cooper Square Mutual Housing Association has been
arrested for allegedly stealing $50,000 from the group. Nancy Velez,
31, was charged with grand larceny and falsifying business
records while she was a director of management at the
company, a spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney said, and Velez faces up to 15 years
in prison. In July, 47-year-old Felicia Blackman confessed to stealing $187,000
from the housing group over a four-year period.
