Brooklyn Bridge Park to start construction

Construction is expected to begin next month at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corp. awarded a $47 million contract last week to contractor Skanska USA for the first phase of park construction. The money covers construction on Pier 1 and a new entrance to the park at Old Fulton Street; completion is expected by the end of 2009.
