The city’s Comptroller William Thompson will host a foreclosure prevention event called “Save Our Homes” this Saturday at St. John’s University in Queens. Queens had 113 percent more homes at the foreclosure auction stage in August compared to the same time last year, according to PropertyShark. The borough has also seen an 11 percent drop in average home sale price, and a 35 percent decrease in home sales during the third quarter of this year. The event is free, and financial workers, nonprofit groups, legal service organizations and staffers from the comptroller’s office will be on hand to give advice on how to prevent foreclosure. TRD
