Landmark status for church, factory

A Murray Hill church and a former paint- and brush-making factory in Greenwich Village were both designated landmarks in unanimous votes by the Landmarks Preservation Commission yesterday. Built in 1854, St. Stephen’s Church is located at 151 East 28th Street, and was once home to the city’s largest Roman Catholic congregation. The F. W. Devoe & Company Factory, at 110-112 Horatio Street, was built in 1883, and exemplifies the style of industrial buildings in the area at the end of the 19th century, according to the commission.
