A glass-walled building planned by the New School for the corner of Fifth Avenue and 13th Street is being put on the shelf for an indeterminate amount of time, according to a statement by the school’s president, Bob Kerrey. He said that problems in the credit markets have prompted the school’s decision to push back discussions about the project. Meanwhile, one source claims that the school plans to demolish the building in the proposed tower’s footprint, at 65 Fifth Avenue, by the end of the year.
