Three developers are competing to win the development rights to the 880-foot Pier 57, at the end of West 15th Street in Chelsea. The Related Companies, Youngwoo & Associates and the Durst Organization are expected to unveil their designs today to turn the pier into three levels of shops, public space, museums and food markets. Revenue from the project will be used to maintain Hudson River Park. The Cipriani Organization and Steve Witkoff, founder and CEO of real estate investment and development firm the Witkoff Group, were chosen in 2005 to transform the pier, but withdrew this year after costs soared.
