Brooklyn retail has boomed along with Brooklyn’s residential market for the last decade, but as the economy slows, Brooklyn retailers are worried. Retailers and politicians are taking steps to encourage Brooklyn residents to shop locally through www.ishopbrooklyn.com, which Borough President Marty Markowitz and other officials announced last week, and by posting “Shop Brooklyn” signs in the windows of retailers who participate in the Web site. The Web site aggregates information about local retailers.
