A construction
worker is in critical condition after concrete fell
on him this morning as he was working in a pit at developer SJP Properties’ 11 Times Square, at
42nd Street. The pit is going to be an entrance to a subway, and the
building under construction is a 35-story office tower. Deputy Fire
Chief Steve Morelli said the pit was murky with a lot of mud and water,
which made the rescue difficult. Three other workers also suffered minor injuries. There have been 26 construction-related deaths in the city this year.
