Walentas building to have public hearing next week

A controversial 18-story residential building to be developed on Dock
Street by David and Jed Walentas will have its first public hearing
next week. The development is slated to include a 45,000-square-foot, 416-seat school, which the School Construction Authority has already placed on its property list
even though it has yet to be approved by the city. But community
members say they do not want the building, which they say will block
views of the Brooklyn Bridge.
