The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a federal agency, has fined three contractors a total of $313,500 for violations at the site of the 19-story tower crane that fell at 303 East 51st Street in May and killed seven people. The charges include failure to properly train employees about job-site hazards, failure to provide protection to stop workers from falling and failure to comply with the crane manufacturer’s specifications when erecting the crane.
