Community board rejects Fordham plan

As expected, Community Board 7
voted against Fordham University’s plan to add 2.35 million square feet
to its Manhattan campus. Thirty-one board members voted against the plan, while
two abstained. No one voted in
favor of the plan. The board said the proposed buildings are too large for the
campus and that it will increase traffic in the area. The board also
does not want Fordham to sell two plots of land to developers, as it planned to do, to help pay for the expansion. Fordham
said it hopes to continue working with the community to reach a
solution.
