Accused Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff’s Upper
East Side penthouse, where he is currently under house arrest, may
be up for sale soon, according to the Post. Some top real estate brokers in the
city have been asked to visit the unit, at 133 East 64th Street, between Lexington and Park
avenues, to assess its value. The brokers were invited by lawyers working for
Irving Picard, the trustee appointed by a federal bankruptcy court judge to
oversee the liquidation of Madoff’s Manhattan
investment firm. An unidentified broker said the apartment could be priced up
to $8 million.
