Sotheby’s, the auction house, said yesterday that it had repurchased its headquarters for $370 million. The company sold its 493,000-square-foot building at 1334 York Avenue and East 72nd Street to RFR Holding Corp., a commercial real estate partnership led by Aby Rosen, for $175 million in 2002 to help pay off regulatory fines. Sotheby’s, which closed the deal Friday, assumed the building’s existing $235 million mortgage and paid the remaining $135 million in cash.
