Luxury developers, low-income Chinatown residents in conflict

Advocacy groups are saying that Chinatown’s low-income residents and
small business owners are being threatened by luxury developers. Twenty-six luxury residential buildings, 25 hotels and 118 boutiques and cafes have come to the area recently. Three-quarters of the tenants and small business owners surveyed

recently by the Committee Against Anti-Asian Violence said they had

been harassed by landlords trying to drive them out of their

apartments.
