Anthony Paino of Staten Island, a 28-year-old construction worker, died today after falling from the 10th floor of the under-construction Gansevoort Park Hotel, developed by Centurion Realty and WSA Management, at 420 Park Avenue South at 29th Street. Paino landed on top of a sidewalk shed and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police and fire department officials. Paino was apparently not wearing a harness, said Kate Lindquist, a Department of Buildings spokesperson. The DOB has already issued a stop-work order in connection with the incident and is likely to issue citations, she said.
