Thrift store to take Steve & Barry’s space at Fulton Mall

The Minnesota-based chain Unique Thrift Store is taking what was supposed to be Steve & Barry’s space at 408 Fulton Street in the Fulton Street Mall. In December, landlord Jeff Sutton filed a lawsuit against the now bankrupt Steve & Barry’s for allegedly misleading him about the retailer’s financial health. The space totals 30,000 square feet and includes the basement, ground, second and third floors of the building. The thrift store is also looking to open a store in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. Sources said the asking rent for the Fulton Street Mall space was $35 million over 15 years.
