Realtors’ group name used in rental scam

The National Association of Realtors’ name is being used in a rental
scam in which renters are led to believe that NAR is acting as an
intermediary and collecting deposits on units. Customers are told that
NAR will collect the deposit, which is to be sent by Western Union to
the United Kingdom, and will then deliver the keys to the renter. Some
of the listings have been posted on Craigslist, which has had trouble
tracing the original listings. NAR never functions as an intermediary
for rental deposits. TRD
