Existing home sales rise in April

Sales of
previously occupied homes rose slightly between March and April.
According to the National Association of Realtors, home sales rose 2.9
percent in April, reaching an annual rate of 4.68 million, up from 4.55
million in March. Economists expected sales to rise to a little less than the April figure, to 4.66 million between March and April. The
median sales price in April fell to $170,200 from $201,300 in April
2008, the second largest price drop on record after January’s price
decline of 17.5 percent.
