The New York Observer profiles Thor Equities Chairman Joseph Sitt, whose tussle with the city over Coney Island land has put him in the spotlight in the weeks prior to the City Council’s August Coney Island vote. Sitt told the Observer he was pleased with the City Council’s Coney hearing last week, where Council members raised questions about eminent domain and funding for the project. “It was the first honest forum on the future of Coney Island that’s ever been held,” Sitt said. Sitt has asked the city for a minimum of $144 million for his Coney Island land; the city has capped its offer at $105 million.
