Several city politicians have funneled tax money to developers, including some from whom they received campaign donations, the New York Daily News reported. City Council member Al Vann reportedly funneled $880,000 toward Delight Construction, which builds affordable housing, even after homeowner complaints of shoddy work by the company. The money comes from the capital discretionary fund, a City Council slush fund. Vann received $3,000 in campaign donations from Delight Construction executives between 2000 and 2002. Two City Council members from the Bronx, Maria Del Carmen Arroyo and Annabel Palma, also sponsored funding for developers’ affordable housing projects, according to the Daily News.
