Despite plummeting real estate values far and wide across the five boroughs, many of the apartments overlooking Central Park at 15 Central Park West continue to enjoy price increases. The New York Times reported that eight apartments in the building sold this year at 38 percent above their closing prices in August 2007, when the housing market is widely regarded to have peaked. One 5,276-square-foot penthouse on the 40th floor, with view of the park, the Hudson River, and the George Washington Bridge, sold for $37 million, or $7,000 per square foot, putting it within the top 10 most expensive Manhattan condos ever traded.
