A home renovation is being named the culprit in a manhole explosion in Brooklyn Heights. Contractors at 25 Willow Place between Joralemon and State streets, reportedly struck a gas line during their work, Brooklyn Heights Blog reported, which caused a manhole explosion that damaged the street and knocked out Metropolitan Transportation Authority power lines in the neighborhood briefly. No one was injured, although crews had been checking homes on the block to ensure there were no carbon monoxide or gas leaks.
