It’s been less than a month since the debut of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s new $800,000 playground at Old Fulton Street, but the space is already closed for repairs to the rubber safety surfacing that covers the ground. Wednesday signage outside the shuttered Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates-designed playground said it would reopen the following day; by Thursday the sign had been changed to say it would reopen Friday. The brand new park also came under scrutiny last week because of three steel climbing domes that parents said get scorching hot in the sun. The domes have since been covered with temporary tents to keep them cool. [NYDN]
