New hotels bring luxury vibe to Midtown

Setai Fifth Avenue

The Setai Fifth Avenue, a new condo-hotel developed by Bizzi & Partners, is unveiling a new Michael White restaurant called Ai Fiori, an Auriga spa and a 16-chair Julien Farel hair salon. The Setai, at 400 Fifth Avenue, is just one of several local high-end hotels which are boosting the reputation of the neighborhood, the Post reported. The Andaz hotel on 41st Street opened this summer. Cassa, a 166-unit hotel and 57-unit condo, opened in the fall on 45th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues, and also hosted the Showtime House. There’s also STK, a steakhouse in the Meatpacking District, which is opening its second New York location in the Grace building near Bryant Park, in early 2011. So far, the new places seem to be doing well. The Setai has signed contracts on close to 50 percent of its units. Cassa has written contracts on about 40 percent of its units, and closed about half of those since getting its certificate of occupancy a few weeks ago. [Post]
