Though the thought of living in a 450-square-foot studio is not jarring to most New Yorkers, fitting a living room, kitchen, breakfast nook, bathroom, work space, closet, bookshelves, lighting, a sofa bed and an extra bed for guests in that space sounds impossible. Enter sliding doors. Freshome blog features the Upper West Side lair of Eric Schneider, who enlisted Normal Projects to install a large, custom-made cabinet that contorts into a number of ways to transform the tiny apartment from a space for entertaining, to a home office and a bedroom. The kitchen has a large counter that can also be used as a dining table for three. [Freshome]
