New Tappan Zee Bridge on fast track due to law
The Infrastructure Investment Act, a New York State law approved by the legislature in December, may fast track government infrastructure projects such as a new $5.2 billion Tappan Zee Bridge, Bloomberg News reported, which has been a priority of Governor Andrew Cuomo for some time.
The law permits the departments of Transportation and Environmental Conservation and the Thruway Authority to contract with a single entity for the design and construction of bridges, roads and dams, Bloomberg said.
“Accelerating projects is the linchpin of everything you have heard from the governor,” said Karen Rae, deputy secretary of transportation. [Bloomberg]
