Jeremy Lin chooses W Downtown for NYC pad

Jeremy Lin’s journey from afterthought to superstar has been accompanied by a quick ascent from a few couch cushions to a pair of luxury rentals. According to the New York Post, in addition to his Trump Tower in White Plains apartment, the Knicks point guard is on the verge of signing a lease at the W Downtown Hotel.

Lin will sign rental papers this week for a 1,182-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo at the Sunshine Select Residences with $30,000 to $35,000 worth of Tui Lifestyle furniture. The owner had listed the unit for sale for $2.315 million before renting it out. Rents in the building range from $3,600 to $8,900 per month, and Streeteasy.com shows a 1,182-square-foot rental listing on the market for $8,800 per month.

The Post cited sources who said the unit isn’t among the flashiest in the building, and classified it instead as a mid-tier apartment in the building at 123 Washington Street in the Financial District.

Previous reports had him checking out apartments at the Ritz-Carlton Residences along Central Park South. [Post]
