Oprah’s 57th Street penthouse hits market

A penthouse apartment at the Place 57 Condominium On East 57th Street, said to be purchased by Oprah Winfrey’s best friend Gayle King but later revealed to have been bought by the talk show diva herself, has returned to the market for $7.9 million, according to MSNBC.

The penthouse was purchased in January 2008 for $7.1 million under the name Sophie’s Penthouse LLC, which reportedly referred to Oprah’s late cocker spaniel. It now appears to be vacant three years later.
