The second wife of Luciano Pavarotti, the late tenor of operatic fame, is having some New York City real estate problems, the Wall Street Journal reported. Not only is Nicoletta Mantovani selling apartments near Central Park that are reportedly in need of renovation and don’t offer park views, but she’s also sold other homes for less than she originally paid for them.
Mantovani currently has two homes for sale in the Hampshire House, located at 150 Central Park South that she inherited from Pavarotti. She listed a one-bedroom unit, number 2306, in September with Robin Rothman of Sotheby’s International Realty for $1.75 million, but the asking price has since fallen to $1.15 million, according to Streeteasy.com. Mantovani listed another one-bedroom unit on the same floor in late April, number 2310, with Rothman for the same price of $1.15 million. The Journal did not mention the price her husband originally paid for them.
In addition, Mantovani sold two properties that she bought in the summer of 2008 as investments. A one-bedroom unit that she bought at 220 West End Avenue for $993,000 recently sold for $925,000. The other is a studio apartment at 88 Greenwich Street in Lower Manhattan that she purchased for $606,000, but sold for $461,500. [WSJ]
