A letter dated yesterday from Barclays Center attorney William Schreiber tells Brooklyn Community Board 6 that alcohol will be served in the arena as late as 2 a.m., Atlantic Yards Watch reported. This appears to be the first time this detail has been disclosed to a community that already fears the impact of the sports arena on their neighborhood.

At an April 10 public meeting, Barclays Center representatives said that alcohol sales would end at the beginning of the fourth quarter of NBA basketball games. Forest City Ratner officials maintained the same stance. However, the letter stated that sales would continue up to one hour after the events end, which Atlantic Yards Watch says is 2 a.m.

The arena’s liquor license was approved by both CB2 and CB6 in April and May, respectively, but under the knowledge that liquor sales would end before the end of games. According to Atlantic Yards Watch, the boards, which were already concerned with noise from the arena did not receive word of later-night operations before their deliberations.
