Forest City Ratner gets DOB approval for foundation work on AY residential complex

Forest City Ratner has nabbed Department of Buildings approval to begin “minimal foundation work” for Atlantic Yards’ first residential building, according to the Atlantic Yards Report. Brownstoner reports that this work must happen before the Barclays Center makes its official debut this September.

The plan has not yet been fully approved by the city.

The building will be located at 461 Dean Street. It will be a 33-story, 349-unit apartment tower known as Building 2. Half of the units will go for market rate and the other half will be affordable.

The Wall Street Journal’s Robbie Whelan has said that the design for the the residential portion of the Atlantic Yards project makes “the most bland statement possible.” [Atlantic Yards Report] and [Brownstoner]
