Call it street art. Fences surrounding a parking lot near the Barclays Center will bear large-scale works of art – creating a “public art screening,” and making the lot more pleasant to the eye. Renderings of the murals were posted by Empire State Development on the Atlantic Yards Report site.

The parking lot, located at Dean Street and Sixth Avenue, is slated to offer spaces to broadcast trucks whose crews will cover events at the Barclays arena.

The art in the rendering will not be the art displayed and ArtBridge, a non-profit public arts organization, is visiting local artists to eye work for inclusion, an ArtBridge spokesperson told The Real Deal.

As previously reported, parking at Barclays — more specifically stacked parking — has been a heated subject of discussion, as critics have said there’s the potential for parking delays and traffic around the neighborhood. [Atlantic Yards Report]
