The secret to getting above-asking price on your Manhattan digs? It’s the power of love.

American pop singer Jennifer Rush, who penned the saccharine ballad “The Power of Love” in 1984, has sold her San Remo co-op for $700,000 more than she had listed it for, according to public records filed with the city today.

Rush, whose real name is Heidi Stern, sold the unit, which is on the 12th floor of the well-known Central Park West building, for $5.2 million; the asking price was $4.5 million, records show. She had been listing the property for sale since April with Sotheby’s International Realty broker Roger Erickson. Neither Rush nor Erickson were immediately available for comment.

The buyer of the unit at 145 Central Park West is listed as John Zeiler, CEO of Manhattan-based Hudson Housing Capital, a financial services firm that promotes the development of affordable housing across the country. Zeiler’s new home, which has two bedrooms and three bathrooms, totals 2,450 square feet and has direct views of Central Park. It was not clear from public records when Rush had purchased the unit.

The singer, who was born in Queens, topped the music charts with “The Power of Love.” The song remains the best-selling single by a female vocalist in U.K. history, but only hit number 57 in the U.S. charts when it was first released. It made a bigger impact in 1994, when Canadian songstress Celine Dion made a cover.
