A single-family mansion on the Upper East Side once home to one of the original founders of Cohen Brothers Realty has sold for $16 million, according to public records filed with the city today.

The 7,600-square-foot home, at 7 East 69th Street, once belonged to Edward Baron Cohen and hit the market just 90 days ago with a $20 million asking price. It was listed by Guthrie Garvin of Massey Knakal Realty Services. Garvin was not immediately available for comment.

Cohen, whose firm built office properties such as 3 Park Avenue, 750 Lexington Avenue and 805 Third Avenue, died in 2009. The property was sold by his son, Andrew. The property features six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and three half-bathrooms.

The buyer is listed in public records as an LLC named SBP 69TH STREET. Its address is registered as a Lake Placid-based law firm.

When contacted by The Real Deal about the listing in June, Andrew Cohen said he’d chosen to sell the townhouse because he already has a townhouse of his own, at 41 East 67th Street, and “didn’t need two.”
