The global head of private equity at Blackstone, Joseph Baratta, is in contract to buy a six-story townhouse in Carnegie Hill for $26 million, the New York Post reported. The seller of the 15-room townhouse, located at 1 East 94th Street, is music mogul and boyfriend to designer Tory Burch, Lyor Cohen.

Just off Fifth Avenue, the six-bedroom house boasts an 1892 Cass Gilbert façade that according to the Post, even caused Jerry Seinfeld to consider defecting from the Upper West Side. The limestone mansion also features an elevator, a patio, a windowed basement, a garden, a full-floor master suite and a planted terrace with Central Park Reservoir views.

Baratta and his wife, Abigail, had been renting another New York City townhouse, according to the Post. [NYP, 3rd item]
