Pediatrician Michel Cohen, founder of Tribeca Pediatrics, which has nine locations in the New York area, is planning to build a six-story apartment building on an empty lot in Gowanus at 454 Carroll StreetBetween Third Avenue And Nevins Street, DNAinfo.com reported. The 4,500-square-foot lot is not the first acquisition the physician has made in the neighborhood.

Cohen told DNAinfo he plans to construct a “beautiful single-family home” at 463 Carroll Street, which he also recently purchased. Cohen told DNAinfo he’s “tried to [construct buildings] there that are different and aesthetically pleasing as I love the neighborhood and the street.”

The vacant lot at 454 Carroll Street is currently zoned for manufacturing, but Cohen told DNAinfo he’s hoping to get a variance to construct it as a residential building.

Cohen also owns 458 and 456 Carroll Street. [DNAinfo]Hayley Kaplan
