Brookfield Office Properties announced yesterday that it has inked deals with eight casual eateries for its marquee Brookfield Place complex.

The restaurants that have signed leases are: salad shop Chop’t Creative Salad Company; vegetable market Dig Inn Seasonal Market; Mexican eatery Dos Toros; grilled cheese shop Little Muenster; Cambodian sandwich shop Num Pang; pizzeria Skinny Pizza; dessert shop Sprinkles Cupcakes; and gourmet burger joint Umami Burger.

The eateries will be housed in the complex’s dining terrace, which is set to open in 2014. “The Dining Terrace will serve as both an amenity to office tenants and area residents, as well as destination dining for New Yorkers and visitors from around the globe,” said Ed Hogan, national director of retail leasing for Brookfield Office Properties. The company added that it expects to add another six eateries in the next few months.

Though plans to open the 200,000-square-foot retail space in 2013 were delayed by a year, companies have begun signing leases in the megacomplex formerly known as World Financial Center. Market research firm GKF is expected  to sign a 10-year, 75,000-square-foot lease at 1 World Financial Center, a 40-story tower located inside the complex. – Hiten Samtani
