Hipsters, not jocks, for 3 Herald Square?

Hipster-friendly retailer Urban Outfitters may occupy the former Conway’s store at 1333 Broadway, the New York Post reported. The multi-level 61,927-square-foot space in the Malkin Holdings-owned building was nearly the home of Dick’s Sporting Goods.

As previously reported, Dick’s backed out of a fully negotiated deal in September to lease space at the property, also known as 3 Herald Square.

“This is a phenomenal location with outstanding visibility between Macy’s and Duane Reade’s flagship stores, and we already have activity,” the Post quoted Malkin Holdings’ Anthony Malkin saying after Dick’s backed out.

Urban Outfitters, Malkin and the CBRE retail agents marketing the space — Andre Goldberg and Matt Chmielecki — did not return the Post’s requests for comment. [NYP, 2nd item] —Zachary Kussin
