The mansion at 247 Central Park West is back on the market again, with the (still unidentified) owner asking $37 million — or roughly $14 million more than he paid for the property last year, Curbed reported.

The owner, identified in public records only as an LLC, purchased the house for almost $22.4 million in January 2012 from Keith Monda, the former co-president and CEO of luxury retailer Coach. At the time, listing broker Matthew Lesser of Leslie J. Garfield & Co. told The Real Deal that the buyer lived abroad.

The owner then listed the mansion as a rental for a staggering $110,000 per month.

“My client purchased the house to live in it,” Lesser said at the time. “Because he and his family live overseas his plans changed, and he has chosen to lease the house for a certain period of time. My client absolutely plans to move here at some point in the future.”

In fact, he is now selling the property, with the help of Stan Ponte and Vannessa Kaufman of Sotheby’s International Realty. The 12,000-square-foot townhouse on the park at West 85th Street boasts five bedrooms, six full bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, and a parlor with a glass and steel staircase.

The mansion is steeped in history. It was built in 1887 by speculative developer William Noble, who constructed a row of nine houses and decided to keep 247 Central Park West for himself. Before Monda owned it, the home belonged to Abigail Disney, grandniece of Walt Disney. [Curbed]Jaime Cone
